I believe God gives each of us moments during which awe overwhelms us–these are moments created unique to our personality designed and perfected by Him. For me He has used walks on the beach under the moon and the stars at night, overpowered by the majesty of His beauty all around me as I drink in the sight of the heavens above me and the sounds of the the waves crashing on the shore before me as I sing, “How Great Thou Art.”
“Oh, Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds that thou hast made, . . .”
Such an experience is in Isaiah’s words seeing the Lord high and lifted up. When that happens, we see holy reality; God is greater than we can imagine and we are smaller than we can conceive–still He loves us miraculously, mysteriously and infinitely. When we recognize this, we can only worship Him.
Unmitigated mysteries beguile, renew my heart
Even as I stroll on a beach at night
And gaze out across the limitless sea
And consider the moon and ten thousand stars.
Here are mysteries far beyond my humanity
Even as I search deep my soul and mind
I find wonder before this infinity
And ponder the Creator who fashions me.
I wander on His canvas a minuscule stroke
Of His masterful brush on His canvas
Too vast for me to comprehend
Yet He includes me with His masterful touch.

Isaiah 1: 1-3
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face,
and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!
