Butterfly Cone Flowers (2)

Recently my wife and I were visiting my wife’s parents up in Indiana. Becky’s Dad told me there was a beautiful butterfly out on the front porch. Of all things, I had left my fancy new camera in Alabama. So, I half-heartedly took my I-Pad out on the porch to see if I could snap a photo before the butterfly flew away. To my delight, this unique butterfly was acting as if she were posing–simply moving from one flower to the other, and even shifting positions while I was snapping away–amazed at this unexpected opportunity to get some well-posed pictures. For me it was a serendipity–a surprising, welcome gift from Heaven that brought me joy as I eagerly collected photos. I was reminded that our Heavenly Father glories in our joy as He surrounds us with amazing beauty wherever we find ourselves. I believe He also takes delight as He reveals His ability where we think we have no ability. I did not need a sophisticated camera with sophisticated automatic gadgets to get great pictures–I just needed a butterfly who was ready to pose. Only God can make that happen. He is, indeed, good.

Is this His glory feeding on His glory?
Imagine, one lived once a caterpillar
Then a pupa hidden asleep in her cocoon
The other a dry and dusty seed buried
Deep and silent in the darkened earth
Before His miracles of metamorphosis
And germination chasing after the sun
Revealed them both as brighter rays
In the galleries of His goodness shining
Like spheres in His heavens above—
Here glory revels with glory,
Declares praise for our Creator.

Isaiah 6:3

And one (seraphim) called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
