JESUS . . . GOD’S SON, OUR SAVIOR (His Head)

Good Friday, once and for all, proves the depths of God’s Love. Imagine the depth of God’s love for us—that He would allow His only Son to undergo such horrible suffering on our behalf—all so that we might receive from Him the priceless gift of eternal life. When I think of that piercing, cruel crown upon His noble head; when I contemplate His face battered and stained with blood; besmirched with mocking spit; I know I am unworthy of such amazing love. Praise God, He does not look at my unworthiness; He looks at Jesus’ inestimable worth, sacrificed for me—and so He saves me. I can only praise His Holy Name.
HIS HEAD
His head, His face, His eyes
haunt me as He dies,
His head should wear a crown
more honorable than thorns,
who lived to bless the world
and bore Himself, our sorrow.
Mark His face with glory
not bloody, grimy, dirty—
His face that healed with smiles,
gave hope to weary souls,
overruled every evil
and welcomes home the lost.
His stark and staring eyes
that show no life are lies
for His are lit with fire
that illuminates our lives
with truth that will not die—
draw us always higher.

For God so loved the world,
that he gave his Son,
that whoever believes in him
should not perish
but have eternal life.
