JESUS . . . GOD’S SON, OUR SAVIOR (His Lamb)

God spoke to John the Baptist; then John declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” He was pointing to Jesus. Jesus daily made the difficult choices to live a perfect, sinless life so that He, alone, among all the people who have ever lived, could pay the ultimate price for all our sins. Only He could offer His blood so that we might be free from the burden of sin. His sacrifice was unique, once-and-for-all, finished. Praise God! Hallelujah! Amen!

IT WAS A LAMB

It was a lamb
he loved—a boy
chasing, laughing
under fresh blue
skies—a lamb,
a boy’s delight—
partner in his play.

It was a lamb
he sought—a boy
choosing, hugging
to his breast
obedient
yet troubled, this—
innocence’s best.

It was a lamb
he knew—a Man
illustrating
for multitudes
sin’s awful price
demanding death—
God’s redemptive plan.

He is the Lamb
I know—“My Son!”
living, breathing
truth burning bright
against the night,
surrendered light—
Love’s work our dawn.

Easter 2006

The next day he saw
Jesus coming toward him, and said,
”Behold the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world!”

John 1: 30 (ESV)

Now when all the people were baptized,
and when Jesus had also been baptized
and was praying, the heavens opened,
and the Holy Spirit descended on him
in bodily form, like a dove;
and a voice came from heaven,
”Your are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.”

Luke 3: 21-22
