SINGING HALLELUJAHS

Never in all of history has a person’s appearance astounded people so. Ask Mary Magdalene. Ask Peter, John and the other disciples. Ask Thomas. Ask any of the five hundred who were blessed to see their risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Ask the Apostle Paul. Never in all of history has there been such spectacular, great good news. “He is risen. He is risen, indeed.” How blessed we are to know the absolute reality of those powerful words. How much more blessed we will be one day to see Him face-to-face. Today, Easter, Resurrection Day, is all about worshipping our Risen Lord and glorifying God on High who did it all. So, we can join those early face-to-face witnesses in joy by faith even as they sang their hallelujahs.
SINGING HALLELUJAHS
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
What was Mary feeling?
What was Martha thinking?
What were His disciples doing
as Lazarus came forth from his tomb?
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
What about her grieving parents?
What about Peter, James and John?
What were the hired mourners doing
as the little girl came down laughing?
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
What was his mother feeling?
What about Nain’s townspeople?
What were his own friends doing
when he rose up, jumping down?
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
What was Mary feeling?
What was she thinking?
What were her arms, her legs doing
as she ran from His tomb into town?
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
What was John feeling?
What was Peter thinking?
What were their brothers doing
when Jesus risen stood among them?
They were singing hallelujahs,
they were rejoicing in their hearts,
they were confessing in their souls,
they were believing in their minds—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen, indeed.
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”
And what is your heart feeling?
What is your soul professing?
What is your mind thinking
as Jesus risen claims your life for Him?
Join me, let’s sing our hallelujahs.
join me, rejoice with all your heart,
join me, confess with all your soul,
join me, know with all your mind—
“He is risen, He is risen, He is risen,
hallelujah, praise His holy Name,
He is victorious over the grave.”

Resurrection Day, 2020
Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?
Whom are you seeking?”
Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him,
“Sir, if you have carried him away,
tell me where you have laid him,
and I will take him away.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!”
(which means Teacher).
