Wonder and Welcome

I never, ever get used to the overwhelming sense of awe and gratitude when God reveals Himself in the world around me. When I stop to admire a flower daring me to describe her particular shade of blue; when I look up and wonder at the flight of a hawk as he glides upon the wind; when I watch the storm scatter its refreshing rains across a dry and thirsty earth; I can scarcely find the words to sing His praise. His magnificence surrounds me. Yet, I also marvel at His welcome through His Word clearly compelling me to rejoice in His Love; I revel among His people fellowshipping in His Church, worshipping and serving His Name; I fall down at His feet as I consider Jesus, the Son, my Savior, the embodiment of Love.

In this world that God creates
There is wonder to delight me,
To cause my heart to sing His praise,
While there also is His welcome
That makes me feel at home
To rest my soul and give me peace
As I become His beloved child.

 I walk His path delighted
At the beauty all around me,
Colors that astound me,
Music that enthralls me;
The heavens declare His splendor,
The oceans roar with His power
And all the earth reveals His glory.

 I find rest in His presence,
Assurance in His constancy,
Confidence in His faithfulness,
Courage in His strength,
Hope in His promises,
Joy in His immediacy,
And love in His reality.

Psalm 96: 11-13

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the people with his faithfulness.
